One Month Down, Eleven To Go

Day 024 - Lego House

P365 - Day 024

This was a fun shoot in my light box with some lego people just playing around.

Day 025 - Flower Power

P365 - Day 025

Learning depth of field using smaller apertures. I know you can blur a shot with a wide 1.8 aperture, but I wanted to get the same effect using say, f4. This was shot at 300mm f6.

Day 026 - Breakfast of Champions

P365 - Day 026

With a perfectly curved batch of grapes I decided to give some food photography a shot.

Day 027 - Sunset over the Farm

P365 - Day 027

I drove past this field and llama farm earlier in the last week and knew I wanted a nice sunset shot. After a fresh foot of snow and a clear sky I couldn't miss the opportunity. Composed of 10 shots and stitched using autostitch.

Day 028 - Rest in Peace

P365 - Day 028

At my Father's funeral I had the honor to be presented with the flag.

Day 029 - Everything's Bigger

P365 - Day 029

Some more breakfast.food photography. Texas toast, fresh out of the oven, mmmmmm.

Day 030 - Over the River and Through the Woods.

P365 - Day 030

After trekking through knee deep snow I managed to snap this keeper in the woods.

Week 3

This week started out normal, then took a drastic turn for the worse... and that's putting it lightly.

Day 016 - Fondue Night

P365 - Day 016

Sunday was a very calm night to kick back and relax with the lady. A nice dinner and an on-demand flick with fondue as a dessert was so needed.

Day 017 - BP Oil Spill, 2011

P365 - Day 017

Woops. This is what happens when the jack used to lift the car is positioned right behind the oil pan on the front differential, leaving no room for the drain pan. Oh well.

Day 018 - DQ Trip

P365 - Day 018

A late night trip to DQ is always needed, as is a Georgia Mud Fudge Blizzard.

Day 019 - "I'm going to steal, ZEE MOON!"

P365 - Day 019

Although it wasn't warm outside, I decided to try to shoot a shot of the moon. I feel the shot came out well, I could use a longer zoom lens though, this was shot at 300mm.

Day 020 - A Day of Sorrow

P365 - Day 020

On January 20th, 2011, my father, William Miller, passed away. He lived a long, strong, and eventful 77 years. He is loved, and will be missed by so many people. He would never be spotted without the glimmering necklace of his favorite the best football team in the NFL.

Day 021 - Snow Day

P365 - Day 021

With a near layer of snow on the ground I decided to take a shot right in the backyard. Oh how pretty.

Day 022 - A Sip of Bliss

P365 - Day 022

Disaronno Amaretto is the best drink, period. Please note: These alcohol shots have nothing to do with recent events. I had time this week to construct a light box and I think the results turned out well.

Day 023 - Put some hair on your chest

P365 - Day 023

I took this shot with a blacklight and my DIY lightbox. I love me some Patron, so gangsta.

Well, that's all folks. Keep an eye out for whatever may be in store for next week.

Studio Photoshoots and Hypnotism, what a week.

What an eventful week!

Day 010 - Margaritaville

P365 - Day 010

Yumm, an Italian Margarita from Olive Garden.

Day 011 - Rest in Pieces

P365 - Day 011

This shoot was fun to finally do. I've seen it done many times in the past and decided to just do it for the 365 project. Let me tell you, raw egg yolk is harder to pick up with a napkin than I thought it would be.

Day 012 - Blizzard Sunrise

P365 - Day 012

These are the icicles outside my window the day after we got 15-20" of snow. Fun.

Day 013 - The Alarming Sound

P365 - Day 013

I had a photoshoot this week with a Providence based band, The Alarming Sound. They're music is awesome, and they're really awesome people to work with and just to hang out with.

Check out their website:

Day 014 - Trippy

P365 - Day 014

Went to the Boston Museum of Science this week as well and snapped this trippy shot. Don't stare too long, or stare all day, I don't care :)

Day 015 - Bull

P365 - Day 015

Headed back up north to Dracut for a friend's birthday and snapped this while waiting a million years for a mad expensive sushi buffet. It was delicious though...

007 Weekend

This weekend I hung out with a bromantic an awesome friend I haven't seen in quite a while and he let me borrow his 50mm f/1.8 lens in exchange for a donut I never let him pull off in my car. I don't really have themes for this year picked out and solidified yet, but I'm thinking this week will be a depth of field week seeing as how I have my hands on such a fast lens. It'll definitely be different, as this older lens doesn't meter light and is 100% manual focus so I have a lot to learn.

Enjoy this weekend's shots, and look forward to some blurry and out of focus shots this week.

Day - 007

P365 - Day 007

This shot was pretty fun, though I'm a little upset I used LightRoom the way I did for the black circle. I used a toilet paper roll on the lens, but since I'm so tall, tilting the camera up pushed more light down the tube making it brown and not black on the inside. LR fixed it up, but I can't help but feel I cheated a little. Oh well, it's the thought that counts I guess?

Day - 008

P365 - Day 008

I feel lucky to have gotten this shot. I went out the next morning and the sidewalk plow had already gone through and these prints were lost forever.

Day - 009

P365 - Day 009

Just playing around this morning at breakfast with aperture.

Week One - 1/3/11 - 1/7/11

One week down and I'm already having fun. Posting once a week fits right into my schedule so I think that's the way this blog and project will continue. I'm early this week, and with reason. I really like this weeks shots, and am very happy with the results. I'll be shooting a fun 007 shot for day 7 tonight, and plan on posting today's photo along with this weekend's photos on Sunday.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy!

Day 003 - Smelly Leftovers

P365 - Day 003

This series was really fun. It started as one photo of me in the fridge, then I just started playing around until I lined up all of the shots.

Day 004 - HADOUKEN!

P365 - Day 004

Lighting was two hot lights shot though umbrellas camera left and right. Hadouken was done in LR3 with the adjustment brush by over exposing. I thought this would be more difficult than it turned out to be, but I'm happy with the outcome.

Day 005 - Green Eyed Pinup

P365 - Day 005

This is my beautiful fiance, Alex. She's helped me with quite a few shoots, and is interested in modeling, though she doesn't say it often. You can find the full set on my Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/realitycaptured/sets/72157625768347876/

Day 006 - Sink Cat

P365 - Day 006

This was more of a cute shot, but with some editing I saved it from becoming an "OMG look how cute he is" snapshot and turned it into something a little better.

Keep checking back for more posts, and more photos!

Project 365 - Let's Do It!

So, for the few (if any) following, my name is Jesse. I'm an aspiring photographer, and I figured a project 365 would help me stay sharp with my skills, and hopefully learn a lot along the way.

What is a project 365?

Well, my goal for 2011 is to shoot a photo per day, every day. Now, I may not post every day, I might shoot every day and post up seven shots on the weekend, we'll have to see.

Without further ado, here are the first two shots. Feel free to post any critique or comments on my shots in the comments, I appreciate any and all feedback.

Day 001 - Happy New Year!

P365 - Day 001

The barefoot pinot grigio champagne is ok, but I prefer the Martini Asti.

Day 002 - Bridge in the Fog

P365 - Day 002

Caught this as I was merging onto 195 in Providence, RI. Traffic was almost at a standstill, but still moving enough where I had to shoot quick.

Stay tuned for more shots and to see how I progress. If you're doing a similar project let me know, I'd love to follow along your journey as well!
